Woman Charged in Cancer Scam Goes to Court

A woman who's accused of lying about cancer, and collecting thousands of dollars in donations made an appearance in a Hamilton County courtroom today.

Keele Maynor, also known as Keele Payne was arraigned last month on numerous forgery and theft charges. Today's procedural hearing was passed . The bond hearing has been set for May 11th. And, so far, no trial has been set.

Officials say Maynor lied about cancer in an effort to collect money from fundraisers and co-workers. She's accused of taking nearly $100,000 in donations. Maynor worked for the city of Chattanooga until December, when she resigned.
