47 Burglaries Marked "Solved"

After a month-long investigation, Chattanooga Police Department Property Crimes Investigators have closed 47 cases and filed 115 charges in a rash of auto burglaries.

The investigation concentrated on the Brainerd, E. Brainerd and Hixson areas and led to the arrests of at least two individuals with others expected to follow. One specific case led to the arrest of Jesse Ervin who's believed to be responsible for 10 burglaries around the Brainerd Army/Navy Surplus Store. Ervin was charged with 10 counts of burglary and 7 counts of theft in the case.

In another case police arrested Roy Petty for break-ins around the E. Brainerd area. Petty was charged with 30 counts of burglary, 30 counts of theft and 7 counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. Several other arrests are expected but, due to multiple suspects working across multiple jurisdictions, names have not yet been released.

Of the 47 cases solved, several resulted in the return of personal property. As soon as investigators can match property with cases across the multiple jurisdictions and make arrests in those cases, more property will be returned.
