A grinding crash kills one and serious hurts three others in Summerville, Ga.
Georgia State Trooper Stan Smith said it happened Thursday around 8 am. Steven White, 56, was driving the 1997 Jeep Cherokee on Highland Ave. in Summerville when he lost control, went over an embankment and landed on Highway 27. After it landed it hit another car going southbound.
Two women were in that car as well as a 4-year-old child.
White was killed in the crash. The other three were rushed to Floyd Medical Center. The 4-year-old was later transferred to T.C. Thompsons in Chattanooga.
Trooper Smith said an autopsy is being performed on White to see if there were any illegal substances in his system that may have contributed to the crash.
