Man Burned while Trying to Save Dogs

A Soddy Daisy man risks his life to save five dogs from his burning home.

The fire broke out around 6:30 this evening, and a neighbor saw smoke and called 9-1-1.

The homeowner, Lovell Stollard, came home and found his house ablaze and firefighters say, that's when he ran in to save his dogs.

Stollard saved the dogs and no other injuries were reported, but an EMS spokesperson tells us Stollard had to be taken to the hospital for medical observation and possible burns to his throat.

The house is a total loss and the damage is estimated at $80,000.

The cause of the fire is undetermined. Authorities are investigating.
