Bradley County Deputy Fired

Bradley County Sheriff Tim Gobble has fired one of his deputies.

Deputy Matthew Joseph Pickett was fired yesterday. He is under investigation by several agencies into claims of misconduct during Pickett’s prior military service.

Federal investigators from the Memphis office of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Chattanooga office of the FBI, in conjunction with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), also discovered Pickett violated several departmental policies regarding evidence procedures. Both criminal and BCSO Internal Affairs investigations are on-going.

Sheriff Gobble said, "Misconduct on the part of any BCSO employee will not be tolerated and appropriate measures will be taken to ensure the integrity of all BCSO operations."
