**** and highlighted areas indicate changed conditions or new project.

Bradley County

  • I-75 Exit 20 Bridge Repair at the I-75 / U.S. 64 Junction (U.S. 74, SR-311) Work on this project is underway. Motorists traveling on the APD-40, U.S 74 (SR-311) bridge over I 75 at Exit 20 should expect delays in this area. The contractor has reduced the two lanes on the bridge to one 11-foot wide lane to perform deck repair on the structure. During construction, traffic on the bridge will be controlled by traffic lights on both ends of the bridge. Local drivers are strongly urged to seek alternate routes, as the traffic has been backing up considerably at this location. We are aware of the problem and are in the process of implementing several changes to try and help alleviate some of the traffic congestion. We will continue to look for ways to improve traffic flow in this area and expedite the bridge repairs. This work could also affect the northbound and southbound I-75 Exit 20 off ramps.
In addition, the contractor will implement nightly lane closures on I-75 North and South beginning at 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning North and Southbound on I-75 in order to perform bridge repair work throughout this report period. Motorists are advised to slow down, be alert for changing traffic conditions, and expect delays, particularly during the afternoon hours. Wide or oversized loads should consider an alternate route. Should unforeseen circumstances or weather prevent any of this work from being performed, it will be rescheduled to take place as soon as possible. Estimated completion date is July 2008.
