The North Carolina State Highway Patrol tells WLOS that the slide could close the Interstate in that area for weeks.
For drivers in the Tennessee Valley, the fastest way to get around the wreck is to take Interstate 75 at Exit 20 will take you to Highway 64 through the Cherokee National Forest, on into North Carolina. From there, take Highway 74, to Interstate 40.
