Monroe County Sheriff's deputies say Wednesday a man called a friend of his at the Loudon County Sheriff's Office. He told them he was worried about his wife, 50 year old Renee Miller because he hadn't seen her. The couple lives in Monroe so detectives there took over.
"We got to speak to the boyfriend of the daughter of mrs. Miller. Pretty quick. The seasoned detectives figured out that there was a problem with the stories that were going on," said Bryan Graves, Chief Deputy of the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.
Investigators say Miller was last seen with a friend of the family 20 year old Kenneth Waldrop in Monroe County Wednesday afternoon. When they caught up with Waldrop he led detectives to an solated part of McMinn County just outside Etowah. That's were they found Miller's body inside her car.
"In this job it's never fun having to go deliver a death message. And there's no exception," said Chief Deputy Graves,
Deputies say while interviewing Waldrop he took responsibility for Miller's death. Detectives also say they have the gun used in the murder in their custody. Investigators say this is the first homicide of the year in Monroe County and even though it looks like the case is somewhat solved, it's still a tragedy no family should have to face.
"I'm sure the family wants some kind of closure but with everybody I'm sure there's a thousand more questions," said Chief Deputy Graves.
Investigators say Waldrop is charged with first degree murder. His bond is set at $250,000. Detectives say they are still looking for a motive.
