Amanda Shropshire joined Newschannel9 in January of 2008.

A native of the Windy City (Chicago) Amanda graduated from Saint Mary's college in Notre Dame, Indiana in May of 2007. While earning a Bachelor's degree in sociology she pursued news after doing an reporting internship at ABC 7 in Chicago with her grandfather.

Soon afterwards she began work as a production assistant at the Notre Dame NBC affiliate during college and decided on reporting as her career. Amanda says her role model is Oprah Winfrey.

Her hobbies are socializing, watching movies, art, learning languages (she speaks French and some Spanish)  and trying all types of food.

While she hasn't been in Chattanooga very long, she says "I love the Scenic city and I love working at Newschannel 9."
