Darrell joined the NewsChannel 9 Team in 1975 and anchors sports for NewsChannel 9 at 5, 6 and 11.

Darrell, born December 13 in Athens, Tennessee, is NewsChannel 9's Sports Director and Anchor. In 1990, he began hosting the annual Darrell Patterson Volunteer Challenge, a golf tournament which raises money for "Santa for All Seasons".

He's been recognized by two Tennessee Governors, Ned McWherter and Don Sundquist, for his work on this tournament and the money it raises for a most worthy cause.

And in 2004, Darrell was inducted into the Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame.
