Karen Zatkulak is enjoying her second year as a reporter for Newschannel 9.
She started in December of 2006 and says she has loved getting to know the people both inside the station and outside.
Karen has wanted to be a news reporter since she was a little girl and watched Lois Lane hunt down stories on Superman. As she got older she realized she would never meet the superhero, but remained tied to the idea of becoming a journalist.
That took her from her hometown of Midlothian, Virginia, to the Univeristy of South Carolina. There, she learned the ins and outs of broadcast journalism while enjoying her time cheering on the Gamecocks and playing rugby.
She began her career in Dalton, Georgia where she worked for WDNN as a reporter, photographer, and producer. Seven months later, she was excited to be able to join the Newschannel 9 team.
Karen ran her first marathon in December with her Dad by her side and continues to enjoying running through the Scenic City. She attends St. Jude's Catholic Church and is glad to be in the South, and surrounded by all the outdoor activities Chattanooga has to offer.
Feel free to shoot Karen an email with comments and story ideas at kzatkulak@newschannel9.com.
