Derek Dellinger serves the morning reporter for NewsChannel9, bringing viewers up to date on breaking news stories on Good Morning Chattanooga, and contributing throughout the day to NewsChannel9 newscasts.

Derek joined the station in April 2007 as a morning traffic reporter, before taking a brief assignment as producer.

Prior to joining the NewsChannel9 family, Derek worked with WDOD/WDEF Radio in Chatanooga.  There, he served in a variety of roles for radio stations 96.5 The Mountain, Sunny 92.3 and ESPN Radio 1370, both as an on-air personality and producer

Prior to coming to Chattanooga, he worked from 2000 to 2004 at WRGC-AM in his hometown of Sylva, North Carolina, where he served a variety of roles there as well. Starting out as a weekend personality and producer, he eventually worked his way up to program director and afternoon host at the station.

On coming to NewsChannel9, Derek says, "it's always been a dream to work in television. And compared to the different shifts I've worked in radio, getting up at 3:00am is easier than an overnight shift."

Derek is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, with a degree in Communications.
