John Madewell has been with NewsChannel 9 since 1994.

He says, "When I first started, I worked overnights and weekends as a one-man-band (Photographer and Reporter). I couldn't ask for a better schedule," John says with a smile.

After 15 months of overnights, John spent the next five years running NewsChannel 9's North Georgia Bureau.

He says, "In 2000, I moved back here to the mother ship (in Chattanooga)."

Before coming to Chattanooga he worked for four years at a television station in Savannah, Georgia.

He says, "It's a city that I still love and visit annually. Lately, my travels have taken me more to the beach. pecifically, Tybee Island where the local hobby is doing nothing. I've become quite good at it."

John attended Dalton College and then the University of Georgia. As you would imagine, he is a huge Dawgs Fan.

"I mean HUGE," he says. "I'm looking forward to the '08 season, but it's a monstrous schedule."

In his spare time John likes to play Ultimate Frisbee, golf, travel, cooking and reading. He attends Westside Baptist Church and says he has a great group of friends there.

"Chattanooga has proven year-in and year-out to be a great place to live with its central location and great climate," says John. "The people here are very friendly and there always seems to be something going on. Working at NewsChannel 9 has afforded me many great opportunities to meet and see exciting people. In addition, working here has introduced me to just about every component of humanity."
