Teenagers In Trouble For Animal Abuse

    Danny Babb is heartbroken about his dog "Bubba" and one of the boys accused of killing it. "It so happens to be our neighbor. The one I tried to help and really cared for. Why he would do it I don't know," Babb said.

   On Tuesday, David Gatlin says he found "Bubba" in the pond on Babb's property near Georgetown. Gatlin said, "Shine the lights, we seen the pole and the we seen the box. I went to my truck and got a rope with a hook on it and threw it in there and got a hold of him and pulled him back out."

   The Bradley County Sheriff's Department says two 15 year old boys attached these two cinder blocks to "Bubba," wrapped the cable used to routinely confine him and threw him in this pond almost two months ago.

   Babb's daughter also knew one of the boys. Angelique Babb says she drove him to school on several occasions. "I would just like to know why. I would just like to know answers as to why he did this."

   "I've let him come down here, I've let him help me. I've let him feed my animals. I've tried to be a good neighbor," Babb said.

     The Sheriff's Department has vandalism, aggravated burglary and intentional killing of animal charges pending. Those are connected to the damage you see to these vehicles parked on Babb's property. The Sheriff's Department says the same two came back, stole a gun and computer and shot these cars. But Babb is bothered most by the loss of life. And he doesn't want the teenager to go to jail. "And really make sure that the boy understands what he done. And try to help the boy if he can be helped," Babb said.

   Sheriff Tim Gobble says the two boys are related. The other one is from the Ooltewah area. Both remain in juvenile detention, according to the Sheriff's Department.

   Gobble says the same two teens have also been charged in another burglary and shooting a dog, which he says is still alive.
