Witness Tries To Save Victim Who Crashed In Pole
A man dies after he veered off the road and crashed into a utility pole.
That accident on Tunnel Boulevard happened right in front of several homes early this morning.
Andrinna Davis and her husband heard a loud crash and ran out to see what happened.
"My husband said, 'baby, get up. Hurry up.' He said, 'somebody has had an accident and it's real bad.'">
But by the time she got to the car, it was too late.
Davis is a nurse of 20 years so she tried to see if she could pull the victim out of the car.
"The car just, burst into flames and they [my husband and neighbors] started putting the fire out."
Chattanooga Police say the impact of the accident killed the victim immediately. Davis knew this the moment she walked up to the car.
"The impact was so bad it tore off the whole dirvesr side of his car and the seat was completely ejected out of the floor."
Davis couldn't save him, so she saved what she could.
She picked up everything he left behind and put a contents in a bag.
"We hung it here, hoping maybe his family may come back and maybe they can just have a little piece of the last minute that he was here."
Officials tell us the victim lost control of the car. The reason why is still under investigation, but they believe speed was a factor in the accident.
The victim's name hasn't been released.
