Home Invasion Suspects Admit Guilt

The young man accused of smuggling a shank into court Monday returned to Judge Don Poole's courtroom this afternoon, but to admit to much more violent charges.

This afternoon, 18 year old Kelvin White pleaded guilty to five home invasions. These were armed crimes in Brainerd last year where victims suffered bruises and cuts, including this 86 year old woman with impaired vision.

White, Kelvin Crayton, and Anthony Bell all received ten years. Each admitted going inside the homes and in some cases armed. Marquel Morris and Larry Jennings were sentenced to six years.

Jennings only admitted to being a lookout on these invasions. Jennings was dating Linda Ramsey at the time, who drove the men to each home invasion. The judge gave her five years.

She apologized to the victims, saying she didn't know the men were beating these people up. Ramsey broke down during her apology to the victims and her family. After her hearing, we spoke with her mother, Linda M. Ramsey.

"She knows she made a terrible mistake and bad decisions and there's a penalty for it. But at the end of the day, God is still God. He's still on the throne and she can call on him," Ramsey said.

Earlier this week, court security officer Jim Pickett spotted the shank on White and compared it to a utility knife, but homemade. The arrest affidavit reads it was inside White's sock.

White had been in protective custody, isolated from all other inmates for his own safety. All six people will start their prison sentences.

White still has to deal with the shank in court accusation.
