UPDATE: Father Charged In Connection With Baby's Death
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A one-month old child is dead and her father is now charged with murder. Newschannel 9 has gotten a copy of the 911 call reporting the chaotic scene. In it, the little girl's mother blames her husband for the violent killing. The Whitfield County Sheriff's Offices says Piper Hayden Hester died in her home early Sunday morning from blunt force trauma to her head and stomach.
Piper was born on June 24th and investigators say it was her own father who took her young life. We do want to warn you that the details in the 911 call is disturbing.
When a Whitfield County Dispatcher picks up a frantic 911 call, she hears this. "She's not breathing, she's not breathing, she's dead, she's dead, please God, please God."
Investigators says the caller is the mother of Piper Hayden Hester. She tells the dispatcher that her infant is not breathing she immediately blames her husband, Nathaniel Hester. "Nathan why is she bleeding, why do you have her blood on you, I'm gonna kill you, you're going to jail, why are you bleeding, Nathan you killed her."
The Whitfield County Sheriff's Office says Piper suffered obvious bruises and head trauma and died of blunt force trauma to the head and torso. They say about an hour later, Nathaniel Hester returned to the house.
Police used a taser on him when he crossed into the crime scene. He was then taken to jail where he's now charged with felony murder, cruelty to children, and obstruction of an officer.
Investigators say alcohol played a big role in the terrible scene that unfolded at the home on Country Lane. In the 911 call you can hear the mother accuse Hester of being under the influence of drugs. She says, "What are you high on, you're going to jail, I'm not high on anything."
When investigators got to the house, they found Piper on the floor, and her mother kneeling beside her, following the instructions of the dispatcher, trying to save her daughter's life. The dispatcher says, "I want you to put your ear next to her mouth."
Then, you can hear the motehr respond, "Okay I did."
The dispatcher then says, "Can you feel or hear any breathing?"
And the mother answers, "No, no ma'm."
