Barnes mulls bid for Ga. governor
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ATLANTA (AP) - As out-of-power Georgia Democrats gather for their annual Jefferson Jackson fundraising dinner, many eyes will be on Roy Barnes.
The former governor is keeping the party establishment guessing about whether he'll mount a comeback for his old job, which he lost to Republican Sonny Perdue in 2002.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Barnes said he's worried the state's agenda is being set by lobbyists with deep pockets. And he blamed some of his fellow Democrats, as well as ruling Republicans. Barnes said "there's plenty of blame to go around on both sides."
Barnes said he's still ambivalent about running. He said he's been enjoying his time at the helm of his lucrative law practice. He pledged to make a decision by early June.
