Cash Stolen Out of Family Bible

Associated Press

A burglar who pried open the door of a house in a McMinn County, Tenn. home stole a small safe and while ransacking a bedroom also took $3,900 that was being saved in a family Bible.

Danny Pritchett said the safe taken from his home in McMinn County contained about $150 in old coins and private papers that he described as "just stuff you don't want to burn up if there is a fire."

McMinn County investigators could not be reached for comment about the daytime burglary while nobody was at home Tuesday.

Pritchett owns a small business and said he had intended to move the cash from the Bible to the safe.

Pritchett said the Bible was left to his wife by her mother and they are glad it was not stolen.
