Employee Stabs Boss
A boss is recovering Friday night in the hospital after being attacked by his employee. Police say an argument broke out at work, and the worker broke out a weapon. Police say Lonnie Savage used a box cutter to slash at his boss, but somehow he cut himself as well. Now, he's not only fired, but facing a charge of attempted first degree murder in this workplace stabbing.
A normal friday morning at Chattanooga business quickly ends in police cars, tape, a crime scene, and 2 employees taken to the hospital. It was around 7:30 this Friday at Southern Cellulose just off Central Ave., that a worker got too worked up. Chattanooga Police Spokesperson Lt. Kim Noorbergen says, "He and Savage gotten into an argument and he told him to clock out and go home for insubordination."
But instead, police say Lonnie Savage pulled out a weapon and attacked his boss, Tommy Sims. "Savage got upset and pulled out out a box cutter and started swinging, slashing Sims 3 or 4 times." Police say while savage was cutting Sims he somehow managed to cut himself, and he also had to be taken to the hospital.
Savage now faces a charge of attempted first degree murder, while Sims just tries to recover. "He had some pretty bad cuts, some as deep as 3-6 inches in his chest and arm, it's serious."
A serious attack on a boss from an angry employee, who says he was being treated unfairly. "Anytime you have a situtation like this in the workplace, these things aren't supposed to happen there, you have to wonder, it's a very serious situation."
We did receive this statement from the company saying "Our first concern is the well-being of our colleague, Tommy Sims. We were relieved to hear that his injuries are not life-threatening. ADM does not tolerate workplace violence. The assailant, Lonnie Savage, will be terminated"
Police say as soon as Savage is released from the hospital, he will be transferred to the jail.
