Community Meeting to Discuss Brainerd Flooding

Recent flooding left home owners and business owners in the Brainerd / East Brainerd area wondering if the City of Chattanooga could do more in the future to protect their investments.

Chattanooga Councilwoman Carol Berz has helped organize a public meeting for Brainerd and East Brainerd residents and business owners on Nov. 5 to present their concerns about flooding to City of Chattanooga officials and ask what the City can do to help them in the future.

The meeting will be held on at 6 p.m. Nov. 5 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist, located at 6314 E. Brainerd Road.

“The goal is to begin working with the City to create and implement a plan to prevent future flooding and improve stormwater management,” according to Dr. Anuj Chandra, who is both a homeowner and business owner in the area.

City officials including the city attorney, public works officials and Mayor Ron Littlefield have been invited to attend. All residents, members of civic organizations and business owners in the Brainerd / East Brainerd area are encouraged to attend and bring their suggestions with them.

For more information about the meeting, send an e-mail to chattanooga.flood.prevention@gmail.com
