Suspect in Suspicious Bledsoe Co. Fires

The Bledsoe County Sheriff's Department is making progress on a suspected arsonist. Sheriff Jimmy Morris responded this morning about the growing string of suspicious fires in the mountaintop community of Luminary.

Sheriff Morris says his department has found a suspect in the Red Oak Lane and Summer City Road fires. Those happened on the same night in December, within five minutes of each other.

An arrest hasn't happened but the information has been forwarded to the State Bomb and Arson team. In addition, Sheriff Morris days Detective Ricky Seals has investigated each of the seven suspicious fires in the last year.

Luminary's Volunteer Fire Department President Ted Scruggs says six suspicious or unknown fires happened in 2009. And just over two weeks ago, Chuck Sizemore's house burned to the ground.

Sheriff Morris says like all of the other questionable fires, that one has also been turned over to the state arson team.
