THP Seeks Truck Possibly Involved in School Bus Crash
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Tennessee Highway Patrol Investigators are looking for the driver of a small pick-up truck who may have been in the area of a school bus crash that happened Wednesday afternoon in Marion County.
The crash happened just before 3:00 p.m. (CST), on Mount Calvary Road just north of Whitwell off State Highway 28. A school bus carrying about 15 elementary-aged school children was traveling west when it went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.
The school bus driver and one child were seriously injured in the crash. Four other children were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
A THP spokesperson says the preliminary investigation indicates that the bus may have swerved to avoid striking another vehicle that was traveling east in the westbound lane.
That vehicle is described as a small, red pick-up truck with no front bumper. Anyone with information regarding the crash or the whereabouts of the pick-up truck is asked to call the Tennessee Highway Patrol or their local law enforcement agency.
