    Salmonella Tainted Peanut Butter

    Comments 0 | Recommend 0

A Virginia company is issuing a voluntary national recall of bulk peanut butter that may be contaminated with salmonella. Peanut Corporation of America issued the nationwide recall late yesterday for peanut butter that was produced at its Blakely, Georgia, plant.

The company says none of the peanut butter being recalled is sold through retail stores. Its peanut butter is made for bulk distribution to institutions, food service industries and private label food companies. Two people have died, one in Virginia and one in Minnesota, in association with the national salmonella outbreak that has sickened more than 400 people.
