Busted in Calhoun
Another day, another drug bust, this time in Calhoun, Georgia. Tuesday afternoon, the Calhoun Police Department Special Operations Unit and Detectives from the Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force acted on a search warrant in the Resaca Community.
After searching the residence, more than 100 pounds of processed marijuana, scales, financial records, weapons and over $5,000 in cash was discovered. One of the weapons found was a home-made "zip" gun, which detectives say has the ability to be extremely dangerous.
Five vehicles and a boat were confiscated, as well as other materials that were thought to be gathered through marijuana trafficking.
Three individuals were arrested, including Herman Lamar Southerland, 54; Florene Nicholson, 50; and Kenneth York, 44.
Police say these arrests were the result of an investigation that has been ongoing for several months.
