North Georgia Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Police have made an arrest in connection with the Nov. 2 Armed Robbery at the Georgia Bank and Trust in Calhoun, Ga.

According to Chief Garry Moss of the Calhoun Police Department, Kevin West, 44, of Gilmer County Ga. was arrested by Calhoun Detectives assisted by the US Marshal Southeastern Task Force, Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, and Dalton Police Department late Thursday afternoon.

The investigation began after a white male (later identified as Kevin West) entered the bank around 3:55 P.M. and produced a handgun demanding money. The suspect then left the location on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency. The suspect was described as a male, approximately 5’10” in height with a slight build, last seen wearing black boots, camouflage shorts and a white tee-shirt.

Detectives followed leads across several North Georgia Counties, over the past week before tracking and subsequently arresting West in Whitfield County.

West is being detained at the Gordon County Jail, facing charges of: Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime.
