Mother Calls Trunk Escape A Miracle

Chattanooga police arrest the last man believed connected to the first of last week's two kidnappings.

And new details come out about car owners forced into their trunks. Joe Clark's mother  says it was a miracle he got out of his trunk.

You'll learn how and why in this story. In addition, police say there is a gang connection to these kidnappings.

21 year old Quintez Bulloch joins his friends facing serious charges. Police took out warrants on Bulloch for Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Kidnapping, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Kidnapping. Christopher Turner, Jeffery McClendon, Jr. and Twain Jackson have all been charged on those counts.

And the F-B-I now sets its targets on all four of them. (A 17 year old juvenile has also been arrested.) Chattanooga officer Rebecca Royval elaborated, "I know that the FBI was looking into federal indictments of the four adults. In the federal system, they tend to have to serve the time they are given."

The kidnappings pulled the feds in. NewsChannel 9 shielded Mychael Chunn's identity because of his fear of another attack. Chunn moved out Tuesday. After members of this group robbed his wallet, phones and keys, police say they forced him into his trunk at gunpoint. And calls made on the victim's phone gave police a valuable lead.

Investigators claim at least two calls went to Jackson. Detectives say Jackson also pawned some of the stolen items at Valu-Pawn. That store followed the law of reporting every buy to police.

Royval said that step was a help, "Our department looks at the records, and we look for things that have been reported stolen."

Police say this group forced Joe Clark into his trunk early Saturday morning. Clark says a man ran at him, shoved a gun in his face, demanded his wallet and everything on him.

But he got out near the National Cemetery. His mother told us it was a miracle because somehow the trunk light came on. He pulled the trunk release cable and escaped.

NewsChannel 9 spoke with Turner's brother in law. Royce Johnson told us he would like to come down here to the jail and "punch him in the face." Johnson went on to say the whole family is disappointed, and the only reason he thinks Turner can be involved is gang related.

Officer Royval confirmed a gang connection exists, "The parties that were involved were either gang members or associates of gangs."

Chunn, the first trunk victim, told NewsChannel 9 he saw one man wearing a red bandanna. Clark's kidnapping led to a home invasion, where a witness saw red and blue bandannas.

More details are expected to come out in next week's first court hearing.
