Church of Christ Helps Flood Recovery

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Instead of focusing on what the floods have taken away, this church is giving back. The Rossville Church of Christ has about one hundred thousand dollars worth of supplies here.

Jennifer Ellison, "The roof caved in, there was water on the walls, it was just a mess."

However, instead of focusing on that mess, Jennifer Ellison's family is moving forward.

To do that, they loaded up donations from Rossville Church of Christ.

"If it wasn't for them we wouldn't have nothing," says Ellison.

Rossville Church of Christ members worked together unloading boxes of supplies this afternoon.

The one hundred thousand dollars in supplies are part of the COC's disaster relief.

Everything from cleaning supplies to clothes fill the room but searching through boxes for items to replace their own, is emotional for some families.

Tamara Vines' friends are left with only have what they're wearing.

"We are just trying to find a way to help them make it," says Tamara Vines.

Church members also made house calls.

We followed volunteers as they took supplies door to door in areas of chickamauga.

"Its emotional, people cry but people were very appreciative of what we are doing," says Jason Butcher, Deacon of Rossville Church of Christ.

In addition to Chickamauga, Rossville Church of Christ made deliveries to Trion, East Ridge and areas in Chattanooga.

As these items were delivered volunteers not only changed lives but made friends along the way. Vounteers tell us these supplies should last, but if not they expect another load on Friday.
