Second Minor Earthquake Hits Cleveland
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The U.S. Geological Survey has reported that a second quake struck the same area in Cleveland that was hit over the weekend, the third total in the past few days.
According to the USGS, this latest quake happened Monday night, and centered along the 1500 block Lois Street in Cleveland, just off APD 40. It measured 1.5 on the Richter scale, meaning it was a very light earthquake. The quake struck just after 10:00pm.
This is the same area that was hit by an earthquake twice as strong just a day before. A 3.0 earthquake struck just after 12:00pm Sunday, centered along the 2100 block of Lois Street, near Ridgeview Street. In that quake, residents that live along the road said they didn't feel any shaking. But further out in Cleveland, people say they felt the tremors. In fact, the USGS reports shaking in that weekend quake as far as Soddy-Daisy and Dalton.
Both quakes were located around 14 miles below the ground.
Another quake, measured 2.0 on the Richter scale, happened Sunday night, centered off Hillsdale Drive. That's in the same area as the other two earthquakes.
There are no confirmed reports of damage from any of the earthquakes.
