UPDATE: Man Falls At Cherokee County Waterfall
Rescuers repelled down a cliff tonight to save a man who fell 100 feet into a waterfall.
According to dispatchers, this happened on the eastern end of Cherokee County on Granny Squirrell Gap Road in Andrews Saturday night.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports the man has been identified as Brian Osterhodt. Sheriff Keith Lovin told the Citizen-Times the man was traveling from Florida to Pennsylvania when he decided to stop in Cherokee County to hike.
Osterhodt was alone at the time, but nearby hikers discovered him shortly after the accident.
Rescuers put the Osterhodt in a basket, and lifted him to the top of the cliff.
