Senior Citizen Forced Into Closet, Robbed at Gunpoint
An elderly woman is forced into her closet and robbed at gunpoint.
We were at the scene of the home invasion in Hamilton County on North Hickory Valley Road as investigators combed the property.
According to a sheriff's office spokesperson, around 9 Wednesday morning, the suspect walked in through the open garage, found the woman in the house, demanded her money and forced her into the bedroom closet.
He told the woman to stay in the closet and he made off with cash and a camera.
"It's probably a crime of chance," Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Janice Atkinson says. "He just happened to be there. That's why we urge people, when you're home, keep your doors locked."
The sheriff's office has limited information right now on the suspect and his getaway car.
The woman's husband was not home at the time of the incident. When reached at home, the couple declined to comment.
