Riverbend Road Closures Coming

Beginning Sunday, May 31st at 9:00 AM several downtown roads will be closed in preparation for the Riverbend Festival which is scheduled for June 5-13th. The following road closures will be in effect until Thursday, June 18th at 6:00PM:

· Riverfront Parkway from 2nd Street to River Street, Chestnut form 2nd Street to Riverfront Parkway and Power Alley from 2nd Street to Riverfront Parkway. Riverfront Parkway will be closed at Lindsey Street from 4:00PM until midnight every night of the Riverbend Festival except on Monday, June 8th. Entry to River Pier Landing parking garage will be available at all times from Chestnut Street and 3rd Street.

The following intersections will be closed from 4:00PM until midnight every night of the Riverbend Festival except on Monday, June 8th for the Bessie Smith Strut:

· Riverfront Parkway at Lindsey Street, Market Street at 2nd and 3rd Streets, Broad Street at 4th Street and Chestnut Street at 3rd Street.

For the Bessie Smith Strut on Monday, June 8th, all entry to Martin Luther King Blvd will be closed from Lindsey Street to Magnolia Street from 1:00PM until 11:00PM. Starting at 4:30PM, the closure will move out to Market Street.

The Downtown area is still very accessible with numerous public parking garages and transportation options, such as the CARTA buses, the Water Taxi and the Fat Cat Ferry.

Headliners for Riverbend 2009 are Willie Nelson, Montgomery Gentry, The Commodores, Three Dog Night with the Chattanooga Symphony, the B-52's, Steven Curtis Chapman, Train, Little Richard, The Wailers, The Emmitt-Nershi Band, Jake Owen, Adrian Belew, Wayne Henderson's Jazz Crusaders, Alejandro Escovedo, The Outlaws and many more.
