Club 2301 Beer License Revoked

November 20, 2008 - 10:38 AM

The Chattanooga Beer Board has permanently revoked the beer permit from 2301 Dining and Dancing, also known as Club 2301.

Law enforcement complained that the club was the source of several crimes in the area, including a deadly shooting recently.

Earlier Charles Sterns, who owns the club, said, "It's a gang problem. I don't know if they want to admit it or not. That's what this is about. Gangs from the south side and the east side. We didn't know who they were. We're not gang members. We're a business."

"We're afraid that if it continues, we're going to see more blood on the streets," said James Moreland, with the federal Weed & Seed program designed to clean up high crime areas.

But again, today that Chattanooga Beer Board voted to permanently revoke the permit for the club to serve beer, but the restaurant will still be open to serve food and liquor.
