Officials say a Whitwell coach has resigned after an investigation into allegations of inappropriate sexual misconduct.

Kristen Helm with the TBI confirms that Nathan Powell, a Whitwell High basketball coach, is being investigated for the accusations but has not been charged.

Marion County Schools Superintendent Mark Griffith tells us Powell resigned Thursday.

Griffith says he has received anonymous letters accusing Powell of inappropriate conduct with students and Griffith notified authorities.
