Photo Competition Seeks to Inspire Chattanoogans
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Two North Shore shopping center is partnering with the Photographic Society of Chattanooga to present a new photographic competition: "PictureTomorrow: Using Photography to Embody the Future We Value."
"We want to show the Chattanooga community a composite image of itself that can inspire all of us to grow the things we value and work for a future we can all enjoy," said Steve Arnsdorff, principal with CS & Associates, which developed Two North Shore.
According to Mr. Arnsdorff, the photo competition reflects the center's orientation toward sustainability. Two North Shore was designed to incorporate environmental sustainability as a core value, through the effort to achieve LEED certification, an international standard for green building.
Photographs can be submitted in 13 categories that are based on core values suggested by Two North Shore merchants. The winners of each category will be invited to exhibit and sell their work at a weekend exhibition that will be held at Two North Shore October 25-26 as part of the center's month-long Harvest Days celebration. A free workshop on how to prepare for exhibiting will be offered to winners by the Photographic Society of Chattanooga.
The competition is open to amateur photographers, defined as those who earn less than 50 percent of their income from photography. Photographers must be from the greater Chattanooga area. Photos must be taken in the greater Chattanooga area and must be submitted by October 1.
For entry forms and complete rules, call Bill Shores Frames & Gallery, 756-6746 or visit www.chattanoogaphoto.org.
The contest is sponsored by Two North Shore and its merchants, by the Photographic Society of Chattanooga and by AVA, the Association for Visual Arts.
