Comments 0 | Recommend 0 Chattanooga lawyer Chuck Fleischmann says he plans to seek the Republican nomination for Tennessee's 3rd Congressional District seat in 2010.
The 46-year-old Fleischmann said the race is his first for elective office. His campaign will hold a kickoff event Tuesday at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel.
The 3rd District includes 11 counties and stretches from Chattanooga on the Georgia border north past Oak Ridge before curling east around Knox County and touching the Kentucky border. Bradley County Sheriff Tim Gobble is also a GOP candidate. The incumbent, Republican Zach Wamp, is running for governor.
Former state commerce and insurance commissioner Paula Flowers of Oak Ridge is seeking the Democratic nomination.
