One Person Dead in Early Morning Fire In Sale Creek
Comments 0 | Recommend 0One person has been killed in a house fire in Sale Creek. The fire happened around 4am Friday on Rock Creek Road.
Fire trucks with flashing red lights responded to the scene on Rock Creek Road off Dayton Pike.
Tony Reavley, Chief of Field Services for Hamilton County, says, "We arrived on the scene and noticed fire coming out two of the rooms."
Reavley says the smoke and flames woke up a neighbor who rushed to the home to help, but it was too late.
Reavley says, "A neighbor woke up, heard and saw the fire and smoke, went to the outside bedroom area where they thought he might be, tried to knock on the window, hopefully wake somebody up, unfortunately he didn't."
Inside the blackened home, just beyond the bedroom window, firefighters found 56 year old Kenneth Michael Carlisle unconscious on the floor. He could not be revived by CPR. Meanwhile, neighbors like Johnny Laymon get word of the news.
Johnny Laymon says, "It's rough. Ain't nothing like that usually happens like that around here."
Back at Carlisle's home, yellow caution tape is up as the sheriff's department begins its investigation.
They know it didn't take long for flames to burn the small home.
But as to how the fire started -- that still remains a mystery.
Reavley says, "They will proceed there. They do have investigators on the scene as we speak."
Investigators say at this time they do not suspect anything suspicious.
They also say firefighters and neighbors did not hear any smoke alarms inside the home.
