National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

This year officers from the Chattanooga Police Crime Prevention Unit and Traffic / DUI Division will be on hand at the kick off location to provide crime prevention and safety information.

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, neighborhoods 'celebrate' National Night Out with a variety of events and activities such as:

  • block parties,
  • cookouts,
  • exhibits,
  • flashlight walks,
  • contests and youth programs.

There are a total of 18 neighborhoods participating in this years event, most of these locations will be serving refreshments and some will be providing food and treats. This year National Night out will raise our communities awareness concerning crime prevention and personal safety.

Residents, law enforcement agencies, community groups and businesses all across the city and county will celebrate crime prevention awareness and send a message that crime will not be tolerated in our communities.
