Crutchfield Back at Capitol
Former Tennessee state Senator Ward Crutchfield has made his first return to the Capitol since he resigned his
seat three years ago.
Crutchfield pleaded guilty in the F-B-I's Tennessee Waltz bribery sting back in 2007. He was sentenced to two
years' probation for accepting 3-thousand dollars from an F-B-I front company called E-Cycle Management..
Five former lawmakers were convicted in the sting operation that was first made public in 2005..
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that Crutchfield, a Democrat from Chattanooga who once served as
Senate majority leader, was warmly greeted by former colleagues and legislative staffers, at the Legislative Office
complex today.
Former state Representative Chris Newton, a Cleveland Republican who was also convicted in the sting operation,
visited the Capitol last year.
