UPDATED - Ammonia Gas Leak in Downtown Dalton

The Dalton Fire Department is still on scene at Reddy Ice, and the leak has been isolated and contained.

One firefighter and one contractor entered the building to isolate valves inside the building and shut then off while the rest of the response team watched via remote video feed.

Now the building will be ventilted by fans until any remaining ammonia has dissipated. Then the building will be turned over to Reddy Ice employees to repair the leak.

Hamilton Street between Morris and Emery remains closed.
