Dayton Police Arrest Six In Meth Bust

Dayton Police Department's dashcam video Saturday afternoon shows suspects in a black Mustang making a run for it from the Walgreen's off Highway 27.

"One gentleman was fronting the money and they would go in and they were supposed to purchase the pseudophedrine and get it back," says Dayton Police Chief Chris Sneed.

That man, according to Dayton Police, is Jeffrey Clark.  He and Kimmy Brown are accused of leading an operation to purchase Sudafed from the store.  As soon as police got on scene, the couple made a run for it, stopping briefly to drop off their stash, before finally stopping, and being arrested.

But they weren't alone in the operation.

"When we arrest 5 or 6 people at one time buying ingredients to produce meth, that's unusual for the city of Dayton," says Sneed.

Nathan Dougherty, James Faulkner, and Comellia Fitzgerald were all arrested on store property.  And another person, Shelley Reavley, was arrested in the parking lot.

"They had gone in, buying this pseudophedrine, it alerted the clerks, who alerted police to that many people in the store at one time buying all that pseudophedrine," Sneed tells us.

Tennessee's laws on meth are designed to limit the purchases of pseudophedrine, which can be used for meth, but Sneed says, "it has slowed meth production tremendously, but in a roundabout way, people are still trying to find ways to get the pseudophedrine."

Police say Dougherty, Faulkner, and Fitzgerald were the ones that each took one box of bills..the legal limit.  But all those pills were later found, thrown out of the Mustang Dayton Police chased.

And in addition to the wrappers and pills, they also found just over 2 grams of meth.

Chief Sneed says they're still looking for the lab, but right now, he says he's sure it's not in Dayton.

"Typically in the city of Dayton," Sneed says, "houses are so close together that it's hard sometimes for them to be in the process of making meth."
