A portion of Signal Mountain Road caved in during a heavy rain storm Wednesday (12/9).

More ''Road Closed'' Woes on Signal Mountain

Tenn. Dept. of Transportation

Tennessee Department of Transportation emergency contract crews will totally close US-127 each night from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16 and Thursday, December 17. Each morning the roadway will be reopened to one lane beginning at 6:00 a.m.

US-127 will also be closed throughout the coming weekend.... from 9:00 p.m. Friday, December 18 until 6:00 a.m. Monday, December 21.

The total closure of the roadway will allow crews to expedite ongoing repair work near log mile 15.9, about a half mile from the Signal Mountain city limits. The total closure will speed up the hauling process which is integral to completing the project quickly. Crews hope to complete the repair work and reopen the roadway by Monday, December 21.

If repairs are not completed, the roadway will again be reopened to one-lane traffic on Monday morning while crews continue work to repair the damage to the roadway.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation awarded an emergency repair contract to Wright Brothers Construction of Charleston, Tennessee on December 10, 2009. Heavy rains caused a portion of US-217 to collapse on Wednesday, December 9. The contractor will remain on site and plans to work 24 hours a day 7 days a week, weather permitting, until repairs are complete.
