Jimmie Devaney, 64, who suffered critical injuries with her husband in a motorcycle crash on May 29, at the intersection of Ooltewah-Georgetown and Blanche Road, has died of her injuries.

The accident sparked concern about motorcycle rider safety.

Jimmie Devaney was riding alongside her husband when they collided with a pickup truck.

Her sister, Lisa Dunham, told us earlier this week, "You can't control what others on the road are doing. I think she would want us to tell others on the road, please watch what you're doing."

Jimmie and Floyd Devaney have been Harley riders for 40 years. They were longtime members of Chattanooga's Thunder Creek Harley Owners Group and considered by many to be very safe drivers.

One of those people is Lee Hicks, the group's safety officer who went back to Georgetown Road to reconstruct the accident.

He said, "The truck was crossing Ooltewah-Georgetown Road and they were going South on Georgetown Road. The truck failed yield, stop or didn't see them right away we don't know."

As Hicks reconstructed the scene, he found when the pick-up truck driver came into this intersection, both motorcycles tried to avoid it.

According to Hicks, Floyd Devaney swerved around the front end, while Jimmie Devaney tried to go around the back.

However, Hicks says the truck stopped causing Jimmie's bike to clip it from behind, spin her around and throw her several feet.

The driver of the truck wasn't hurt. Flord Devaney remains in stable condition at Erlanger.

Dunham said, "I'm gonna lose her, but its got to mean something. If it saves somebody else than it will be worth it."

The crash is still under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Dept., but as of now no one has been charged.
