Get Your Donations To Haiti Matched
Comments 0The heart wrenching devastation of Haiti compelled one local mission to action. The Samaritan Center in Collegedale met this morning and decided to start a matching gift fund.
The Executive Director told NewsChannel 9 its Disaster Relief Fund had more than $8,000 in it. That amount had grown from donations since Hurricane Katrina.
Overnight, the Samaritan Center decided to take that money and seek donations to match and, or surpass it. Tony Dahlberg explained what would happen next, "That we can send on to agencies that we know are going to be directly involved and have the means and capabilities of moving the needed supplies to the disaster victims over in Haiti."
The Samaritan Center started making signs to alert customers as they shopped. It hopes to make a donation as quickly as possible.
