Ooltewah Students Go Home Early

August 20, 2008 - 3:51 PM

Students are evacuated and then sent home without being able to go back into Ooltewah High school this afternoon. This happened around one o'clock. Hamilton County Schools spokesperson Danielle Clark says a complication with the main electrical line resulted in the power going out.

Clark says for safety reasons, all 1800 students were evacuated. About 30 minutes later, students who had their own transportation went home. The remaining students were sent to the gym. Clark says power and air conditioning kept working in the gym.

That group of students went home by bus. Crews worked through the afternoon to pinpoint the problem. Classes resume tomorrow morning at 7:15.
