August 01, 2009 10:34 AM
An earthquake woke many from their beds this morning in the Tennessee Valley.
The United States Geological Survey says the tremor happened shortly before 9:40 this morning and measured around 3.2 on the Richter scale.
Dispatchers in Cherokee County tell us "everybody has called" about the quake there, but that no damage was reported. The quake was centered just north of Highway 64 and right near the North Carolina/Tennessee state line.
Dispatchers in Polk County report they've gotten calls, mainly from the Ducktown area, about the quake.
