Bradley County Hiring Jailers
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Bradley County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications from qualified applicants for immediate openings in the Corrections Division.
Correction officers perform a variety of tasks related to the supervision and care of inmates while they are incarcerated in the facility. The Bradley County jail uses direct supervision, an inmate behavior management philosophy that places the correction officer inside the cellblock they are supervising.
Successful candidates for positions in the jail must complete requirements for certification by the Tennessee Corrections Institute within six months after they are employed.
The starting salary in the Correction Division is $26,179 plus all county benefits.
Basic qualifications for these positions include:
-- Must not have been convicted or have plead guilty or entered a plea of Nolo Contendere to any felony charge, or to any federal or state law or city ordinance relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor, or controlled substance.
-- Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanor crime of domestic violence as defined by Tennessee State law.
-- Must not have been released or discharged under other than honorable conditions from any of the armed forces of the United States.
-- Should be a resident of Bradley County, or establish residence within six months of employment.
-- Must submit a completed application in the applicant's own handwriting.
-- Must not misstate or omit any material facts on the application since those statements are used to determine qualifications for employment.
-- Applicants must, before employment, submit fingerprints for a criminal history check to be placed on file with the FBI; pass a medical examination, take a physical agility test; pass a complete background investigation; pass a polygraph exam; participate in a psychological examination; and pass a drug screen. Correction officers must secure certification by Tennessee Corrections Institute within six months after employment. Certified employees have a 12-month probationary period.
Persons who qualify for employment under the above provisions can file an application with the Human Resources Coordinator at the sheriff's office. You can get a copy at the lobby of the sheriff's office during regular business hours, or by downloading one from the sheriff's web site, www.bradleysheriff.com under the Employment tab.
Once an application is filed and reviewed, applicants who qualify will be contacted to attend the next pre-employment testing session. The written examination is administered several times during the year. The next test will be administered on December 9th. Participants will be notified of the location and time and what they will need to bring to take the test.
