CSO Celebrates the Holiday Season with Home for the Holidays
The Chattanooga Symphony and Opera will present its annual holiday tradition Home for the Holidays on December 15 and 16 at the Tivoli Theatre. Featured on this year’s concert, conducted by Music Director Kayoko Dan, will be the CSO Orchestra and Chorus, The Metropolitan Bells, local dancers and actors, and is hosted by WRCB news anchor Greg Glover.

“This season’s all-new concert offers a wide variety of musical genres. Audience members will enjoy music such as the reverent ‘Joy to the World’ to the nostalgic ‘I’ll be Home for Christmas,’ from the whimsical ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’ to the traditional ‘Sleigh Ride.’ With a full cast of musicians, singers, dancers and actors, this family-friendly concert is a perfect event to ring in the holiday season,” stated CSO Director of Marketing, Samantha Teter.

The Saturday, December 15 performance is at 8pm and the matinee performance on December 16 is at 2pm, which will include pre-concert “Reindeer Games” for children starting at 1:00pm. TWEETS INDICATE KIM KARDASHIAN HAS BABY GIRL

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- They aren't saying anything for the record. But it looks to be a baby girl for Kim Kardashian and her rapper boyfriend Kanye West. Nothing official from the presumptive new mom and dad -- but tweets are flying around suggesting the baby has arrived. Kardashian's sister Khloe went on Twitter to boast about "the miracle" that is now "part of our family." She adds that mommy and baby are healthy and resting. Kardashian mom Kris Jenner linked Khloe's tweets to her own account -- and wished West a happy Father's Day. There were various media reports saying the baby was born this weekend -- but none of those reports quote anyone on the record. If the baby did arrive over the weekend, the child would have come into the world a month premature.

AP correspondent Oscar Wells Gabriel reports details of Kim Kardashian apparently giving birth over the weekend have been swaddled in secrecy.

"MAN OF STEEL" TAKES BOX OFFICE RACE

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The latest incarnation of Superman opens at number-one this weekend. "Man of Steel" takes in $125 million, including the Thursday night screenings. That's the biggest June opening ever. It's also the second-best debut of 2013, so far. "Iron Man 3" is the only movie that had a better opening weekend. The comedy "This Is the End" -- starring Seth Rogen -- was a distant second. "Now You See Me" is third. "Fast & Furious 6" was fourth, followed by "The Purge."

It's a one-two punch for superhero movies this summer. The AP's Jamie Friar looks at the weekend box office results.

'DAYS OF OUR LIVES' WINS AT DAYTIME EMMY AWARDS

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- "Days of Our Lives" wins the drama series honors for just the second time in 40 years at the Daytime Emmy Awards. The NBC soap opera began airing in 1965. It beat out defending champ "General Hospital" and three-time winner "The Bold and the Beautiful." Doug Davidson of "The Young and the Restless" and Heather Tom of "The Bold and the Beautiful" won the top acting honors. The awards show was on HLN, and the network's censor wasn't fast enough on the button. Corbin Bernsen used some of the words you aren't supposed to say on TV while introducing the "In Memoriam" segment. He got a big laugh when he said he was just using the language his mother, Jeanne Cooper of "The Young and the Restless," would have used.

THE (RIGHT) ENVELOPE -- PLEASE!

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- It looked like a comedy bit -- an awards show presenter being given the wrong envelope. But it happened last night to Aisha Tyler of "The Talk" at the Daytime Emmy Awards. She opened the envelope to announce the outstanding talk show informative winner. But Tyler realized something wasn't right. She told the crowd: "This winner is not in this category." Tyler had to wing it until someone brought her the right one. Tyler got a big laugh when she told the audience, "there better be a cocktail waiting" at her table. "The Dr. Oz Show" was the winner.

ELMO PUPPETEER WINS THREE DAYTIME EMMYS

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- An awkward Daytime Emmy Awards moment. Kevin Clash -- the longtime voice of Elmo -- won three awards for his work on Sesame Street -- about six months after he quit amid allegations that he sexually abused underage boys. Clash won for outstanding performer in a children's series and shared in two other awards handed out on Friday. That gives him 26 Daytime Emmys in his career. He had played Elmo for 28 years before his resigned.

MILEY CYRUS' PARENTS SPLITTING

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- For the second time in recent years, Miley Cyrus' parents are in court trying to end their marriage. Three years ago, singer Billy Ray Cyrus filed to split from his wife -- but later changed his mind. Now this time, it's Miley's mom who has gone to court to file divorce papers. Tish Finley Cyrus cites irreconcilable differences. She wants custody of the couple's youngest child -- and spousal support. The two have been married since December, 1993 -- the year after Billy Ray Cyrus had his biggest hit, "Achy Breaky Heart."

ROBERT DOWNEY JR. CALMS CHILD

SUNDERLAND, Mass. (AP) -- Some toddlers freak out when they see larger-than-life characters in costume. But in this case a woman says her one-and-a-half-year-old son went nuts when he saw an actor known for his work as a superhero OUT of costume. Heather Denno says she took her son Jaxson to see Robert Downey Jr. filming the movie "The Judge" in Sunderland, Massachusetts. Downey -- who stars in the "Iron Man" movies -- saw the little boy and went over to say hello. When mom told her son Downey was "Iron Man," the kid burst into tears because Downey wasn't in his superhero getup. The mom says Downey was able to calm her son down. Denno tells The Boston Globe (http://b.globe.com/120iopK ) she could tell Downey was a dad by the way he treated her son.
