"AMERICAN IDOL"-TWITTER VOTE
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- No, you weren't watching "The Voice" last night. Fox's "American Idol" is taking a cue from its NBC rival. Last night, Idol introduced a live Twitter vote giving fans the choice to save one of the bottom two. The Voice introduced its instant Twitter vote during the 2013 fall season. On last night's Idol, it came down to Daniel Seavey, the kid of the competition, and Rayvon Owen. Each performed and fans had five minutes to post their tweets. Daniel came up short, meaning Rayvon moves into the Top Eight. First American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson was the guest mentor, with each Idol hopeful doing one of her songs.

SPIKE SEEKS DIVERSITY
NEW YORK (AP) -- It won't necessarily be ditching "COPS" and mixed martial arts for less guy-centric fare. But Spike is trying to show off its softer side. The network made a name for itself by building a roster of programs aimed at young men of college age or slightly older. That worked -- so much so that it's now trying to broaden its fan base. It's launching a series based on Jimmy Fallon's bit involving celebrity lip-sync battles. The network will air those starting tonight. Spike says it doesn't want to run off its audience of men -- just trying to make the network something guys will want to watch with their wives or girlfriends.
