It'™s a Saturday Night Fever at Denim and Diamonds, Feb. 23

The mirror balls have been hung!  Jive talkin’ isn’t allowed!  Join us for Denim & Diamonds: Saturday Night Fever for the best party this side of Studio 54!

Chattanooga physicians and community  leaders will come together at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the Chattanooga Convention Center for an evening of music and food, and a celebration of healing. The event will be the ninth annual Denim and Diamonds fundraiser, which helps support the Project Access community health partnership and other community health initiatives. The event is organized by the Chattanooga Hamilton-County Medical Society, Medical Foundation of Chattanooga, and Medical Alliance.

Denim & Diamonds: Saturday Night Fever, presented by Dale Buchanan & Associates, Kindred Health and University Surgical Associates, will celebrate the decade of disco – the 1970s. This evening will include dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions, and lots of surprises.

Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite star or icon from the 1970s. Polyester will be back in style for one night only.

“Every year more people say that this is one of the best events in town,” said Rae Bond, Medical Society and Foundation Executive Director.  “We look forward to Denim & Diamonds continued commitment to being a fun and exciting community event.”

This year an online auction will take place before the event to encourage community-wide participation in raising funds for Project Access. The site will go live at noon on Feb. 4, 2012, and can be accessed through www.chattdenim.org.

Project Access has provided $98 million in charity health care to the working poor since its inception in April 2004. Since the program began, more than 12,000 individuals have been evaluated for eligibility. Each month an average of 400 patients are actively receiving care or finalizing enrollment. Those who do not qualify for the program are referred to other appropriate community resources and programs.

“Project Access is helping people get back on their feet, return to work, and often obtain their own health insurance again,” Mrs. Bond said. “The funds we raise at Denim & Diamonds support this work so that we can continue to help as many people as we can.”

The event is open to the public. Table sponsorships are available starting at $1,000. Individual tickets are $100. To purchase your table or tickets, call the Medical Society at 622-2872 or visit www.chattdenim.org.

Sponsorship opportunities, including exclusive sponsorships, are available ranging from $500 to $7,500. Opportunities include exclusive sponsorships of activities and events. For more information, contact Kevin Lusk at 622-2872.

Project Access is a nationally-recognized, physician-led community health initiative that coordinates free medical care for low-income, uninsured residents of Hamilton County. Partners, who provide free services to Project Access patients, include the Erlanger, Memorial and Parkridge Hospital Systems, and Kindred and Siskin Hospitals.

"THE VOICE" FINAL PERFORMANCES

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Adam Levine doesn't have a singer left on "The Voice." But he has a prediction. Levine says 16-year-old Danielle Bradbery will take it all. But Usher doesn't agree. He's coaching Michelle Chamuel (sham-yoo-EL') and proclaimed her the winner after one of her songs last night. Blake Shelton has two acts going into tonight's finale, Danielle and the Swon Brothers. The Swon Brothers blew the lyrics on "Danny's Song." But it didn't matter to Shelton. He says it will be a hit on Oklahoma radio later this week. Shakira is fan of the brothers, too. She says they have universal appeal. The winner will be announced tonight.

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS TO STAR IN REVIVAL OF "HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH"

NEW YORK (AP) -- Neil Patrick Harris will sing about a botched sex-change operation in his next Broadway show, a revival of the rock musical "Hedwig (HEHD'-vihg) and the Angry Inch." He'll get to wear some crazy outfits, too. John Cameron Mitchell originated the role that he created. He's glad Harris will be filling his sparkly shoes. He asks "Who better to pass the wig to but the finest entertainer of his generation?" Harris says he's both "ecstatic and terrified to be stepping into Hedwig's heels." The show will open sometime in the spring.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- We got to see Kim Kardashian's baby when she was still inside her on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," but we don't know how much we'll see of her now. E! wouldn't say how much the baby will be part of the show. It says "out of respect for their privacy," they won't be commenting on the possibility.

FINAL BOX OFFICE FIGURES

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- "Man of Steel" is now officially the movie with the biggest June opening in Hollywood history. Final figures show it made nearly $117 million. It's already made nearly $400 million around the world. "This is the End" is a strong second with $21 million. "Now You See Me" is hanging in there in third with $11 million. "Fast and Furious 6" is fourth, followed by last week's number one "The Purge."

"MAN OF STEEL" - RUSSELL CROWE'S DIAPER-CHANGING

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Russell Crowe had to deal with four babies on the set of "Man of Steel." Each baby was rotated playing Kal-El. Crowe has two kids of his own. Charles is nine and Tennyson is nearly seven. Crowe says he was "pretty "slick with a nappy" when they were young. He says he "managed to dodge" being covered in poop or pee.
